Donoso VII in Aranjuez

Hi I am back. I think. It has been intense and still is. Today was first spring, well would be swedish summer day but here almond blossom and 20 degrees, heaven!
Aranjuez

As I am going to Sweden to present Donoso at the stallion exhibition this week we decided to take him to Yeguada Los Callejones del Duende, to prepare his breeding program for this year. This will be professionally done by one of Spains most recognized breeding centres and by veterinarian Dra. Concha Gómez Cuetara. Concha is also a teacher at the veterinarian university of Madrid, one serious lady that has probably never had a failure in her entire life. The studfarm Yeguada Los Callejones del Dunde is one of the oldest and most genuine Carthusian PRE studs, recognized all over the world. Here is old PRE history atmosphere, traditional spanish architecture and classical music. Many stallions from here are founders of studfarms all over the world. Serious PRE breeding, respect. This is also a center for dressage of PRE horses for highest level of competition. Whilst being here Donoso will be trained by Agosto Colastra, spanish dressage-maestro, spanish champion several times and Grand Prix is his daily routine. Perfectionist and very serious trainer. So Donoso will have a combined fun holiday and some serious concentration. It is all perfect but I am still in agony! Silly me, but I will get over it like a true grown-up..
We were warmly greeted and well taken care of by owner and all staff, thank you!

Rider has 3 meter legs so I needed 4 loops for stirrups. All is ok.

Start had a day off in his soft-sand-fiber-paddock today, it is like a beach and I understand very well he want he rolls about 10 times.. My student Silvia will be taking care of Start-smart whilst I am away, I hope he behaves, not so worried about Start, he always get people to give him what he wants. Tomorrow we have a english client and I hope we find her the horse that gives her a big smile!

Pessoa

My favourite roundabout, one proud olive tree in the middle, the snowy mountains behind and a glorious blue sky. Today a day to be greatful for, like all days really but some are more special than others.

A sunny day like today (first photo) we go outside and play, I let them do whatever they want so they can stretch and have fun. Donoso had me laughing today, he did some awesome moves, jumps and twists and looked like a 'royal athlete'. He jumps up in the air, hangs there, does 6 moves with different parts of his body and then lands. And he loves the typical macho-stallion-rearing, he is good at it so he shows it off. Start does his bullfighting moves (I am the bull) without touching the ground and with no sound. If Donoso is a king Start is a emperor. Such classy horses, only horses with class can perform these movements with such balance and ease, I am totally impressed.
Some days they do the walker and others we lounge. Here working Start with the Pessoa last week. The Pessoa is a fantastic tool for working iberian backs, getting hindlegs inunder and stretching necks down. Start is now tuned in and turned on, I feel like he is flying, taking off, he did 12 perfect tempi ones the other day and it was a fantastic flow-feeling, happiness!
Yesterday I did cavalletti-changes with Donoso, it is fun as they get to think more and a little jump is always uplifting. Happy horses.
